Neuromance and Snow Crash

February 22, 2009

So I recently finished reading Gibson’s classic “Neuromancer” which was an eye opening experience to say the least. The novel pioneered ideas of existence, connection with others and the limits of technology in the coming world. To say the least it is a book that provides a stark view of a very real future and should be up there with classics like “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep” and “Dune.” That said, I have heard of another book that is said to expand upon Gibson’s ideas and bring them into crystalline clarity. That novel is “Snow Crash” by Neal Stephenson. Many people have told me that Gibson invented the idea of this computer and internet world and that Stephenson perfected it. So of course I have just purchased it and I will let you know. One thing I do know, is if Neal Stephenson can create a world as beautiful and sad as William Gibson I know that i won’t be able to put the novel down for one second.
