A Native American Proverb

February 26, 2009

I really like this little Native American Proverb that I saw last week. I wrote it down when I was in the doctor’s office and I thought it was worth sharing with everyone.

When you arise in the morning,
give thanks for the morning light,
give thanks for your food
and the joy of living

If you see no reason for giving thanks,
the fault lies in yourself.

I think that is so true. If you can’t see the good in the world that isn’t because the world is total shit it is because you aren’t looking very hard. Even when times are at their worst their are still things to give thanks for and be joyful about. At the very least these things are happy memories from the past or the love of family and friends. So everyone should embody this expression and try to give thanks at least once a day.
